The 2018 Vosne-Romanée Village has turned out nicely, bursting from the glass with expressive aromas of rose petals, spices, wild berries and orange rind. Medium to full-bodied, layered and invitingly perfumed, it's built around powdery tannins and succulent acids. Despite its deceptive charm, there's considerable structure here to sustain graceful evolution in the cellar.
A menthol top note is present on the red and dark pinot fruit-suffused aromas that are set off by enough wood influence to mention. There is better freshness and verve to the delicious and attractively refined medium-bodied flavors that culminate in a bitter pit fruit-inflected finish. There are backend traces of wood and warmth but overall, this is a quality Vosne villages..
