The 2014 Gevrey Chambertin Village, which is mostly from the lieu-dit "En Champs" in Brochon, has a forward bouquet with hints of dark chocolate infiltrating the red berry fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, the 30% new oak neatly folded into the fruit, linear but balanced on the finish. This is a respectable village cru in the making.
?A subtle application of oak frames the exuberantly fresh and cool nose of cherry, pomegranate and gentle earth and humus nuances. There is excellent punch and detail to the lightly mineral-inflected flavors that exhibit a touch of austerity on the dusty, long and linear finale.
