Once again the nose is extremely ripe yet fresh with its aromas of cassis, mocha, poached plum, spiced tea and sandalwood, all of which is trimmed in just enough wood to mention. The sleek, rich and vibrant flavors possess both good volume and punch that contrasts somewhat with the dusty, serious and long finish where a touch of warmth gradually emerges. This isn't as vibrant as the Rognets though I sense that this is more a phase than something that will persist.
A rich deep purple. Beautiful fruit on the nose, fully ripe but holding its quality. Juicy raspberry. This is a full bodied Echezeaux that has not sacrificed its ability to be nuanced, show its full latticework, and the fruit becomes fresher the further back on the palate. Beautifully balanced and very persistent, this is in a very good place. A little more elevage and this will become even more refined.
