Once again there is just enough wood to merit pointing out framing the spicy and airy essence of red currant, baked plum and warm earth. There is excellent density to the larger-scaled and caressing but notably powerful flavors that coat the palate with sap before terminating in a mocha-inflected, lengthy and balanced finish. This is quite good and while it should certainly age well, it should also drink well young.
From both Charmes and Mazoyères. Rich dense purple, with a concentrated nose, inky but not too cooked, and with some minerality in evidence. In the mouth the wine displays quite a thick texture. This is a relatively heady 2018.
