Amazingly, Laurent is able to source Corton-Charlemagne from 8 suppliers. Pale in colour, with a powerful, intense nose, a little touch of iodine also. White fruit, flesh more than stones, a touch of citrus, really quite fat behind. How much Corton-Charlemagne do I see? Or has the style been bent towards Meursault? Slight toffee behind, lowish acidity.
Subtle if easily perceptible hints of menthol and wood toast frames the ripe but cool aromas of exotic tea, acacia blossom and crushed fennel. On the palate there is excellent underlying tension and minerality on the acceptably dense medium weight flavors that flash excellent delineation on the tightly coiled finish. This solidly powerful effort is a classic CC that should age accordingly yet isn't so backward or compact that it couldn't be approached after only 5 to 7 years of keeping.
