Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2014 tasting, Damoy's 2014 Chambertin Clos de Beze Grand Cru was one of the highlights of the entire tasting. It has a showstopper of a nose with brilliantly defined black plum, cranberry, wild strawberry, sous bois and minerals. You just have to stop and admire the clarity of the aromatics here. The palate is extremely well balanced with a fine bead of acidity interwoven through the black cherry, cranberry and raspberry fruit. There is the structure and masculinity of a Clos de Beze, and yet it is certainly not unapproachable at this premature stage. Fabulous. You can feel the mouth still tingling long after the wine has departed. Quite brilliant. Tasted September 2017.
Packed with cherry and strawberry flavors, this red is framed by toasty oak and firm, dusty tannins. Austere now, but vibrant, showing fine potential on the lingering finish.
