The 2022 Bourgogne Chardonnay comes from three parcels in Puligny and Saint-Aubin, the latter of which Damien Colin feels imparts freshness into the cuvée. There is decent intensity on the nose that seems to have a bit of reduction at the moment - it just needs time, of course. The palate is well-balanced with a crisp line of acidity and yellow plum mixed with tangerine with a bright, sapid lime cordial finish. Fine.
Attractively fresh aromas include those of freshly sliced citrus and Granny Smith apples. The racy and delicious flavors are not especially dense but they do offer good cut before concluding in a bone-dry and highly refreshing finish. This is lovely for its level and worth considering.
Tasted from a sample taken just before bottling this week. Three plots in Chassagne, Puligny and St-Aubin. Pale lemon colour. A little touch of reduction but with energy in the fruit behind. The St-Aubin component adds the electric fresh backbone, while the other two give a little more body. A thrilling example of Bourgogne Blanc from vineyards close to village appellations.
