Aromas of white flowers, freshly baked bread, honey and orange zest introduce the 2021 Mâcon-Fuissé Les Bruyères, a medium-bodied, satiny and racy wine that's attractively pure and mineral. It's derived from old vines growing on volcanic soils.
Full bottle 1,327 g. Certified organic. From vines planted between 2011 and 2015. Unoaked and aged for 12 months on fine lees. Unfined.
Light nose – more discreet than the 2021 Mâcon-Chaintré. Excellent acidity that's already well integrated with the ripe-enough fruit. I'd hold this for a few months before enjoying it but it's very well made.
The 2021 Mâcon-Fuissé Les Bruyères comes from the north part of Fuissé on blue schist soil and escaped the frost, but alas, was hit by hail resulting in 50% of the crop lost. It has a light, pretty bouquet with apple blossom, tinned peach and light licorice aromas. The palate is balanced with a concentrated opening. Slightly lower in acidity than I would like (it was the last parcel harvested), though it retains reasonable definition and bite on the finish. This will be best drunk in its youth.
