Robert Parker (92)

The 2022 Chassagne-Montrachet Charrières is a worthy follow-up to the vintage-transcending 2021. It unwinds in the glass with notes of citrus zest, crisp stone fruit, white flowers and hazelnut framed by a deft touch of reduction. Medium to full-bodied, suave and satiny, with an elegantly textural attack, a succulent core of fruit, bright acids and a saline finish, it derives, as readers may remember, from the upper part of a climat directly below premier cru Vide Bourse, planted with old vines on SO4 rootstock which now, in their old age, produce low yields of small grapes (Moreau also has holdings lower down in the climat, which there's less of a slope and fewer small stones, but that fruit goes into his generic bottling)

Vinous (95)

The 2022 Chassagne-Montrachet Les Charrières comes from south-facing 50-year-old vines on limestone soils. It has a pixelated bouquet with so much brightness and vitality. Wonderful mineralité here with a hint of pralines. The palate has wonderful balance and poise, is very persistent, and finishes with a dash of stem ginger and lemongrass. And this is just a Village Cru that was once blended with the Chassagne Village???

Burghound (92)

A deft application of wood frames the ripe and smoky aromas of various white fleshed fruit, petrol and soft wet stone hints. The generous and enveloping but punchy middleweight flavors exude a light minerality that seems to add a sense of lift to the firm, youthfully austere and sneaky long finish. This is an excellent and ageworthy Chassagne villages and worth considering.

Jasper Morris (94)

This plot is very close to the grand crus and contains 45 year old vines yielding tiny millerand grapes. Plenty of fruit weight to the nose, without much detail. Fleshes out considerably on the palate thereafter. White fruit with some yellow plums, plenty of energy here, even quite subtle nuances behind and very extensive palate. Top class. Just keeps on going!
