One of the finest Belgraves I have ever tasted, this sleeper of the vintage boasts an opaque purple color along with abundant aromas of blackberries and cassis, a classy mid-palate, medium to full-bodied flavors, superb depth and crisp freshness as well as liveliness. Over recent years the large negociant firm of Dourthe has been making improvements and resurrecting the quality of this forgotten Medoc classified growth.
Ripe and fleshy, with lots of roasted vanilla bean and fresh espresso, followed by dark, winey cassis and blackberry fruit. An intense licorice edge and a solid, tarry finish imparts drive.
Rene Gabriel rates this wine 18/20 points.
