The 2019 El Puntido was still very young and energetic, powerful with generous oak and plenty of tannins that need polishing and integration, which should be provided by the time in bottle. It has ripe berries and smoky notes, hints of shoe polish and a darker profile than the 2018 I tasted next to it and with incisive tannins. A powerful Tempranillo with stuffing and balance to mature in bottle. 37,995 bottles produced. It was bottled in December 2021 and will be released in September 2022.

A stylish red, with flavors of raspberry puree, melted licorice, tea rose and tar rippling across the generous palate. Firm and fresh, with taut, fine-grained tannins and juicy acidity well-meshed to the expressive profile. Reveals an appealing, fragrant overtone of medicinal herbs and spices that linger on the finish. Drink now through 2029. 1,500 cases made, 500 cases imported.
