This highly regarded Tuscan winery has produced brilliant examples of its proprietary red wine, Siepi, over recent vintages. A blend of equal parts Merlot and Sangiovese, the 2000 Siepi boasts a stunningly opaque purple color as well as gorgeous aromas of blueberries, espresso, and cocoa. Full-bodied, opulently-textured, and extremely rich, with moderate tannin in the long, heady, concentrated finish, this provocative 2000 may be even better than the 1999, which was terrific.
Round and balanced red, with velvety tannins and a ripe berry and dark chocolate aftertaste. Well-done.
