In marked contrast to the tannic 2015, the 2016 Chateauneuf du Pape is a forward, charming version of this cuvée, boasting delicate floral aromas and ripe cherry and stone fruit flavors. Full-bodied and creamy in texture, it shows no hard edges but delivers plenty of charm and finesse for drinking over the next 10-12 years. It's a classic blend of 65% Grenache, 20% Mourvèdre and 15% Syrah.
Solid, with a ripe core of raspberry and plum pâte de fruit flavors that sparkles with detailed anise, apple wood and sweet tobacco notes. Has weight and depth, but the acidity is fresh, allowing this to stretch out through the finish.
