The 2011 Chevalier-Montrachet Les Demoiselles puts the Batard in its place with lime flower, crushed stone, freshly sliced apricot and lemon peel that are beautifully defined. The palate is very well-balanced with a crisp seam of acidity. It is very tight in the mouth, not really wanting to play ball, unlike the nose, but there is certainly good length here. Very fine.
A range of spices, from vanilla to sandalwood, along with apple and grapefruit flavors, mark this dense, tactile white. Lightly tannic on the finish, with citrus and spice notes gracing the long aftertaste. With air, this turns increasingly harmonious and juicy.
