This bright, medium-to-dark ruby/purple-colored wine is extraordinary. Intense aromas of cassis, blackberries, and fresh herbs all covered in luscious milk chocolate give way to this wine's full-bodied, rich, and dense personality. Expressive layers of sweet dark fruits, earth, spices, as well as roasted and grilled herbs can be found in this complex, structured, and broad wine. Its formidably long and expansive finish also possesses copious yet supple tannins. Wow! Readers who have never had a glorious Chapelle are well-advised to scour their favorite wine shops for this gem.
?A ripe and expressive nose of mostly dark berry fruit that evidence touches of secondary character also flirts with nuances of brett. There is good richness to the relatively full-bodied and overtly mineral-driven flavors that display plenty of muscle and punch before culminating in a robust and still firmly tannic finish. The brett is so subtle that it is unlikely to bother most consumers though it does clearly suggest that good provenance is critical. I would further observe that for my taste this is still on the way up and I wouldn't touch a bottle for at least another 5 years and 10 would not be too soon.
