Robert Parker (95)

One of the finest wines in the Jadot portfolio, the 2017 Chambertin Clos de Bèze Grand Cru (Domaine Louis Jadot) unfurls in the glass with aromas of sweet red berries, menthol, dark chocolate, blood orange and grilled meats. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, ample and layered, with superb depth and dimension, succulent acids and notable concentration, its tannins entirely cloaked in fruit. While this is a comparatively supple, giving rendition of this cuvée, it will nevertheless demand patience.

James Suckling (96)

There’s a wild and exotic edge to the nose with red and violet flowers, blood oranges, pomegranate and an array of fine, bright red fruit, as well as a dusting of hard, brown spices and wild-forest notes. The palate is succulent, very juicy and intense and has an athletic tannin structure with powerful, long tannins that hold the finish well. Very old vines, planted in the 1920s.

Jasper Morris (95)

90-year-old vines up top plus plots of 40 and 25 year old vines. Slightly paler colour than the Chapelle but in fact a greater elegance to the fruit. This flows in silky fashion right across the palate, there are no disruptive tannins, just enough acidity and a sensual suave and very long finish.

Wine Enthusiast (96)

This wine is all about power and dense tannins. It also has surprising charm from the open black fruits. Although it will age, this wine is also likely to be ready to drink after 10 years. Roger Voss
