This is very generously wooded, indeed so much so that either the sample was pulled from a new barrel or this isn't really consistent with the Drouhin style. While the wood is indeed quite pronounced it doesn't completely dominate the mostly red berry fruit scents that are liberally laced with earth and floral nuances. There is a relatively refined mouth feel to the powerful yet elegant medium weight plus flavors that deliver excellent intensity and punch on the hugely long and conspicuously structured finish. This is indisputably woody at present but there is so much concentration that the underlying material should have no difficulty absorbing the oak in time.
