Pure and pretty, the 2022 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Chenevottes unwinds in the glass with aromas of peach, orange oil, white flowers and wet stones. Medium to full-bodied, satiny and layered, it's bright and saline, concluding with a delicately perfumed finish.
A slightly riper, and less elegant if more complex, nose freely reveals its aromas of rosemary oil, petrol, spice, fennel and white peach. The delicious and generously proportioned medium-bodied flavors also possess a caressing mouthfeel before terminating in a sappy and nicely dry if not especially vibrant finish. While this certainly has the material to age, it could just as easily be enjoyed young too.
Three barrels with no new wood. Just a faint lime tinge to the pale colour. The bouquet suggests a slightly stony white fruit. This is very pure on the palate, precise even, with a striking length, ripe enough fruit that the acidity barely impinges. Notable length, very classy in the Joseph Colin mineral style. Joseph thinks that Chenevottes is well suited to drier and warmer years, as the vines and grapes stay nourished. Drink from 2027-2034.
