Domaine Dujac

Domaine Dujac

In 1967, Jacques Seysses, acquired a small domaine based in Morey-St.-Denis and renamed it after himself. Since he knew well established celebrities such as Gérard Potel (his apprentice), Charles Rousseau, Bernard Clair-Daü, Henri Gouges and Aubert de Villaine, he commenced his winemaking career.

The first vintage, 1968, was one of the worst years in the twentieth century so the grapes and wines were sold off in bulk, but 1969 was a complete turnaround (a legendary vintage for the pinot noir grape), putting the domaine on the map permanently. In 2000 he established, together with his father, the négociant business known as Dujac Fils & Père.

Today Domaine Dujac is a family company ,with also his wife, their first two children and their spouses involved. The following years, the domaine has enlarged significantly as some vineyards became available to take over. The peak was reached with the purchase of some exceptional parcels from Domaine Thomas-Moillard in 2005.

Although the wines from Dujac are not generally very deep in colour, they make up with their outstanding scent and backbone. They are true “vins de garde”, which are capable to last multiple decades. Domaine Dujac has a whopping seven grands crus in their portfolio!

Today it is one of Burgundy’s prominent domaines. Their flagships are: Le Chambertin Grand Cru (0.29 Ha), Romanée St.-Vivant Grand Cru (0.17 Ha), Bonnes Mares Grand Cru (0.59 Ha), Clos de la Roche Grand Cru (1.95 Ha), Clos St.-Denis Grand Cru (1.47 Ha), Echézeaux Grand Cru (0.69 Ha), Charmes Chambertin Grand Cru (0.70 Ha) and their latest acquisition: Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru “Les Malconsorts” (1.57 Ha), along with various other top vineyards throughout the Côte de Nuits.
