With Alain Raynaud taking more of an interest in this estate, which is actually run by his sister, it will be interesting to see if they can push the quality of this fabulous terroir to the level of some of the great estates on the plateau of Pomerol, such as Petrus, Vieux-Chateau-Certan, and Lafleur. Certainly the 2006 is an outstanding wine. This 100% Merlot boasts a deep, saturated ruby/purple color followed by sweet raspberry and blueberry notes interwoven with hints of truffles and charcoal. The wine possesses a full-bodied, luscious texture, admirable purity, and impressive length. It should be drinkable in 2-3 years, and evolve for 15+. Add to Print List
Delicately stewed berries, with light coffee and dried tobacco throughout. Medium-bodied, with velvety tannins and a medium finish. A little hollow. I like La Croix de Gay better at this point.
Rene Gabriel rates this wine 18/20 points.
