The 2006 Malleolus de Valderramiro is sourced from a single 85-year-old vineyard bearing that name. It was aged for 18 months in new French oak. Opaque purple-colored, its legs ooze slowly down the side of the glass. It sports a great bouquet of roasted herbs, pain grille, espresso, incense, blackberry, and black cherry. Opulent and layered in the mouth, it is dense and still tightly wound with the requisite ripe tannin to evolve effortlessly for 8-10 years. This lengthy effort will have a drinking window extending from 2018 to 2041.
All of the Bodegas Emilio Moro wines are 100% Tinto Fino (Tempranillo).
This expressive red delivers cherry, cinnamon, orange peel, fig pudding and smoke flavors, supported by full yet supple tannins and bright acidity. Floral and spice notes linger on the finish.
