Really lovely açaí, blueberry and violet aromas and flavors spill forth, with a subtly racy edge thanks to a cool cast iron accent underneath. The structure emerges steadily through the finish, though the fruit keeps pace and there's good energy throughout. Ends with a flash of sweet bay leaf. This will be fun to watch evolve.

The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Meteor Vineyard captures all the pedigree of this well-known Coombsville site. Powerful and intensely savory, the 2019 offers up copious dark fruit, lavender, sage, grilled herbs and licorice. The tannins are both potent and present, yet they are beautifully balanced by the luxuriousness of the fruit. This is a superb showing from DuMOL
Andy Erickson, Dawnine Dyer and at least three others buy from this vineyard, whose owners also make their own wine. Planted in 1999 to French clones on white volcanic soil over basalt – pudding stones from the caldera of the volcano. Close to the Bay so the climate is quite like Carneros. It buds out early so vine growth is ahead of Oakville but in May and June Oakville bounds ahead. Harvest is 2.5 weeks later than mid valley so the vines get more hang time without too much sugar. ‘There’s a Pinot-osity in these Cabs’, says DuMOL’s Andy Smith.
Very deep purple. Intense nose seems quite ripe. Fragrant and silky. Quite floral with a hint of iodine. Really fine and long.
