The Dailuaine 14 Years Old Silver Seal Young Cask 11067 57.2% is a whisky that showcases the exceptional craftsmanship of Dailuaine distillery, nestled in Charlestown-of-Aberlour, Strathspey, Scotland. The history of Dailuaine distillery dates back to 1852 when it was founded by William Mackenzie. Following his passing in 1865, James Fleming, a banker from Aberlour, took over the lease of the distillery in partnership with William Mackenzie's son, establishing Mackenzie and Company. Over the years, the distillery underwent renovations and expansions, including the addition of a branch line connecting it to Carron station on the Strathspey Railway in 1863.
In 1891, Dailuaine-Glenlivet Distillery Ltd. was founded, and in 1898, it merged with Talisker Distillery Ltd. to form Dailuaine-Talisker Distilleries Ltd. It was during this period that Charles C. Doig, a renowned architect, designed a new distillery with a pagoda-like roof, which later became a standard design feature for Scottish distilleries.
The year 1915 marked a significant change for Dailuaine as the company was sold to John Dewar & Sons, John Walker & Sons, and James Buchanan & Co. One year later, a devastating fire destroyed the pagoda-roof, resulting in the temporary closure of the distillery. However, it reopened three years later and was eventually acquired by Distillers Company Limited (DCL) in 1925.
In 1960, Dailuaine underwent a complete renovation, expanding from four to six stills. Notably, since 1983, the malt is no longer produced in-house, but the distillery continues to uphold its commitment to quality and craftsmanship.
The Dailuaine 14 Years Old Silver Seal Young Cask 11067 57.2% is a testament to the artistry and dedication of both the distillers at Dailuaine and the team at Silver Seal.
