Nose: Thick sherry but with some fruity aromas besides the obvious dried fruits : hint of pineapple , balsamic , spice mix , caramel ,toffee and some wood varnish.

Palate: Lovely stuff going on here. Sweet fruit with a touch of pineapple in vanilla sauce, toffee and butterscotch all with bits if pepper here and there.

Finish: Dried fruit and toffee.

Another lovely example of sherry finished BR, not sure how the triple distilation changed the spirit , but it’s very good indeed. Personally I do prefer its younger peated sister cask but they are both great.

A Triple Distilled Triumph

One of the standout features of the Benriach 15 Years Old Batch 10 Cask 7633 is its triple distillation process. Unlike most Scotch whiskies, which typically undergo double distillation, Benriach has gone a step further to create a smoother, more refined spirit. Triple distillation not only purifies the whisky but also imparts a delicate character that sets it apart from its peers.

Pedro Ximénez Sherry Influence

The magic of Cask 7633 lies in its interaction with the Pedro Ximénez Sherry cask during its maturation. Sherry casks are highly sought after in the whisky industry for their ability to impart rich, fruity, and sweet notes to the liquid they hold. The marriage between Benriach's spirit and the Pedro Ximénez Sherry cask was a match made in heaven.

Tasting Notes

1. Color: The whisky pours a deep amber, reminiscent of polished mahogany, hinting at its years of maturation.

2. Nose: On the nose, you are greeted with a symphony of dried fruits, figs, and dates, all drenched in the sweetness of rich caramel and toffee. There's a subtle note of oak and a whiff of warm spices, which adds depth to the aroma.

3. Palate: The first sip is an explosion of flavor. The Pedro Ximénez Sherry influence is undeniable, with flavors of dark chocolate, raisins, and plums taking center stage. The triple distillation process shines through, offering a silky-smooth texture that caresses the palate. A delicate nuttiness and a touch of cinnamon round out the experience.

4. Finish: The finish is long and satisfying, with lingering notes of honey, orange zest, and a gentle warmth that beckons you to take another sip.
