Ardnamurchan currently produces both peated and unpeated spirits. As they describe it themselves, “a full flavoured malt” that represents its West Highland origin.
This single malt contains both peated and unpeated malts, matured on Bourbon as well as Sherry oak casks.
The whiskies disttled at the Ardnamurchan Distillery have built up a large fan base over the past 1.5 years. Not surprising al all obviously, given the very high quality of the whiskies that are produced at the distillery.
The Ardnamurchan AD/02.22 is the first official Cask Strength bottling. Of the 50 barrels used, 40 were former bourbon barrels filled with the peated variety of Ardnamurchan, 5 bourbon hogsheads and 5 sherry hogsheads with the unpeated variety. This has resulted in a wonderfully warm, but also sweet and at the same time salty whisky.
Color: light orange gold
Nose: Apples and pears transition into seductive caramel and butterscotch, ginger, gingerbread spices and almond pie.
Taste: Sea salt combined with tobacco leaves, everlasting peat smoke and soft pepper. All this accompanied by a sweet undertone, which hits the spot wonderfully with spicy influences.
Aftertaste: Wonderfully warming where the soft peat eventually has the final play in the dram.
