Teeling Whiskey
One of the most representative Irish whiskeys is Teeling Whiskey, carrying a centuries long distilling legacy in its roots. The Teeling Small Batch is one of this distillery’s most appreciated core-rage bottlings, and the Teeling 30 Years Old Vintage Reserve is one of the distillery’s special editions, much loved by collectors.
One of Teeling’s trademarks is the experimental character of the distillery. The master distiller loves to experiment with rare editions such as Stout casks, Chesnutt casks and Kyro Rey Gin finishes. The Teeling Distillery is one of the only few that still produces very old Irish whisky.
The Teeling whiskey history originates from 1782, when founder Walter Teeling established a small distillery in Dublin, Ireland. The craft of distilling within the Teeling legacy was passed on for many generations and became part of the prosperous Dublin whisky industry. The nearby Dublin Port provided the surrounding area with a distribution network to import barley and export goods. As a result, around the 19th century Dublin’s whiskey industry was booming, partly by the Industrial Revolution at the turn of the century. The number of distilleries expanded to no less than 37 at its era height including the “Golden Triangle” marked by the three largest distilleries at the time, serving as the city’s whiskey epicentre.
In the year 2012 Stephen and Jack Teeling decided to follow their relatives footprints and established the Teeling Whisky Company. Only three years later, the brothers established the Teeling Whiskey Distillery in the proximity of their late ancestor’s distilleries. It was the first distillery to have seen the light in 125 years’ time. As the new Teeling Distillery was located in Marrowbone Lane, in the heart of legendary Golden Triangle, the distillery is highly regarded by the again booming Dublin whiskey industry and results ultimately as a great stepping stone towards a blooming future. The Teeling Distillery’s current production capacity is around the 500,000 litres per annum.
