The Powerscourt Distillery is located at the Powerscourt Estate, with is one of the most beautiful and iconic gardens in Ireland and golf courses in its proximity.
The distillery itself is located in one of the ancient outbuildings. Distilling was started there in the fall of 2018 under the direction of Noël Sweeney, renowned for his time as manager of Cooley Distillery.
Fercullen Falls
Fercullen Falls is a small batch Irish Blended whiskey incorporating whiskey from its own Powerscourt Distillery for the very first time. This is a very rich blend of 50% single malt and 50% Irish grain whiskey, with the single malt matured in first fill ex-bourbon barrels and the grain whiskey in a combination of ex-bourbon barrels and all-new "heavily charred" oak casks .
The name Fercullen Falls refers to the highest waterfall (121 meters) in Ireland, which is located not far away from the distillery.
Taste note:
Nose: Cinnamon with fresh fruit from the orchard with brown sugar, toffee and warm bread. The herbs linger nicely.
Taste:Rrich, soft and sweet at the same time with vanilla icing, and malt spice and peppery cloves.
Finish: warming with the spices with a firm mouthfeel that also explores the corners of the tongue.
Delicious to drink pure, but also very suitable as a basis for your favorite cocktail.
