Until the beginning of the 20th century, the Hampden distillery kept its barrels in the "Great House", here they rested before they were shipped to Europe or America. Great House is released every year and is only available through the selected markets. It is a bottling in a limited edition and a tribute to the legendary country house, which is part of the history and heritage of the distillery. De Blend has different ester levels and volumes that evolve with every annual edition. Each new blend is aimed at emphasizing a different aspect of the rich and various aromatic profile of Hampden. The 2022 edition is a mix of medium and high esters, which reveal a lively and intense profile that lingers endlessly with white fruit and floral tones.
Test notes:
Nose: lively and flexible. Ripe banana, candied lime, lychee, kiwi and Williams pear.
Taste: pear, coconut, agave, pepper, rhubarb and vanilla.
Finish: long and smooth. Gentiaan Wortel, Tobacco, Raspberry, Cherries and Caramel.
