Tasting the new Eiling Lim Irish whisky 15 years Old Zen label 57.7% by Eiling Lim.
Over the past couple of years, Best of Whiskies has been official distribution partner for all of Eiling Lim’s releases globally. For example the release of the Glenfarclas 37 Years Old single cask 8818 was co-released with us, which I absolutely loved. One of the best I have every tasted. In fact, all of her releases are just as exceptional, or as she puts it herself: “The whisky has to be highly quaffable where one have to feel the pleasure of drinking our whisky because taking just a sip is an insult”.
Let’s see what this Irish lad will bring us today:
Nose:
Oh wow, apples… lots of fresh, green apples, pears, and bananas… Lots of yellow fruit and vanilla.
Taste:
Easily drinkable, this is spot on so well-balanced! Lots of yellow fruit, apples and pears with clotted cream. I guess that sounds like a lovely dessert.
Finish:
A Medium long finish, bringing in the almond and oak spices, just slightly on the background.
Balance and Complexity:
Full score here for the balance. Nose and taste are extremely well-balanced. In terms of complicity it’s one of those drams that is both easily approachable and has undisputed greatness in every drop of the Irish liquid. Beautifully adorned with a Zen label, it brings to mind the soothing song Oh Danny boy:
But come ye back when Summer's in the meadow,
Or when the valley's hushed and white with snow,
It's I'll be here in sunshine or in shadow,
Oh, Danny boy, oh Danny boy, I love you so!
I guess I fell in love with this little leprechaun, what’s not to love. Quaffable! Coming in very close to 90 points. It gets a 89/100 in my book.
