Tasting note courtesy of Mark Dermul at whivie.be:

Liquorice
I have already praised Thibaut De Meyer and his Bruges Whisky Company for the Rogia and the previous Ryggia releases. And during one of my online masterclasses, his Experiment B even came out as a favorite. I was therefore very happy when this new 'Almost There' was released in anticipation of the real first whisky from this young entrepreneur. Only 602 half liter bottles were filled with this spirit from 2019 that may not yet be called whisky. It matured on 'homemade casks', no idea what is meant by that, but it all looks very good again.
Pleasantly sweet nose on red fruit, especially raspberries and strawberries, supplemented with sultanas and candied orange peels. Hint of marzipan and a large dose of cocoa. Even a little candy-like. And after some breathing it becomes all liquorice. Nice!
Mouth coating and powerful! The wood asserts itself again, but is perfectly balanced with the sweet fruit. Again all kinds of red berries, bitter orange and a lost apricot. Nice and spicy at the same time on cloves, nutmeg and even a little oregano. And although it can tolerate a little water, I think it's better without it.
The finish is long, warm, spicy, sweet... actually just delicious.
I have marked 11 September 2022, the date on which Thibaut's first real single malt whisky appears – at the first edition of the Whisky Festival Kempenland, mind you – with highlighter on my calendar.
